Our Surrey dentistry office is proud to employ the latest in modern dental equipment to treat our Surrey & White Rock dental patients with the utmost in ease and comfort in as little time as possible.
Some examples of our state-of-the-art dentistry equipment include:
Rotary Endodontics (Root canals)
Root canal treatments are more easily accomplished today than ever before, using mechanical instrumentation with rotary nickel titanium instruments. With this technique, after thorough anaesthesia, the nerve tissue in the canals of the roots of teeth can be rapidly removed. The canals are sterilized, dried and sealed in much less time than with hand instrumentation. Most treatments are completed in one office visit with little or no post-operative pain.
Ultrasonic Scalers
Ultrasonic periodontal therapy is a long-standing technology, its effectiveness well-rooted in research. Used by both periodontists and hygienists, its most effective features are its clinical efficiency and patient comfort. Many newer models now come with a boost mode to get at the toughest calculus and stain.
TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation)
In neuromuscular dentistry (the art and science of finding your relaxed jaw position, i.e., correct bite), the TENS unit is used to decrease pain perception and to help control acute and chronic pain associated with TMD, i.e. Temporomandibular (jaw joint) Disorder. The ultra-low frequency TENS works to cause relaxation of the muscles of mastication (chewing muscles), improving circulation and reducing pain. It is also used to relax the jaw muscles, so that a more accurate bite registration can be taken.
Intraoral Digital Dental Cameras
This camera is used to enable patients to see photos of teeth requiring treatment. These photos also accompany any insurance claims.
Digital SLR (Single-Lens Reflex) Camera
Used for "before-and-after" photos, this camera is used primarily in cosmetic dentistry procedures.

How Does Surrey's Southridge Dental Go About Removing Mercury Amalgam Fillings?
Southridge Dental tends to work closely with conventional and holistic health practitioners. It is imperative that chronically ill patients seek advice from a physician knowledgeable in mercury toxicity.
To prevent additional mercury exposure, our dental practice is fully equipped with an efficient vacuum and air system designed specifically for mercury amalgam removal.
Our process also involves applying large amounts of water and removing the amalgam in large segments to minimize mercury vapour and amalgam particulate. Lastly, Southridge Dental recycles all used mercury with an amalgam separator to protect the environment.
For more information on our mercury amalgam removal services, contact our Surrey dentistry office.
What are CEREC non-metal, ceramic tooth restorations?
CEREC, a dental technology developed by Sirona Dental Systems, is the world's only non-metal, porcelain system for the fabrication of ceramic dental restorations (permanent ceramic crowns, onlays, or veneers) in one office visit. For the patient, this means fewer injections, less drilling, and less time out of their hectic schedule for dental care.
Most dental restorative methods require more than one visit to the dentist. On the first visit, your tooth is prepared, an impression is taken, and a temporary restoration is placed on your tooth. On the second appointment, a few weeks later, the temporary is pried off and a permanent restoration is installed.
How Does The Odyssey Soft-Tissue Dental Laser Work?
LASER is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. It converts electrical power into coherent, monochromatic and colliminated light capable of changing a target substance, such as human tissue. The tissues are modified due to the thermal effects produced by the light. Lasers were first introduced to dentistry in 1982.
The Odyssey 2.4G Diode Laser enables our Surrey dental care office to offer patients the most sophisticated, precise and minimally invasive technology available in dentistry. Its high affinity for soft tissue makes this dental laser an invaluable tool for esthetic sculpting of gums, accessibility, isolation and the healing of soft tissue. It differs from traditional methods in that it is more efficient and often faster. There is less post-operative discomfort for the patient and the bacteria levels in affected areas are reduced. There is virtually no collateral damage to healthy tissue.
Overall, our Surrey laser dental procedures are safer, highly effective and gentle with healing time noticeably reduced. The Odyssey Diode Laser is certified in compliance with the latest safety standards applicable to medical lasers in the US and Canada.
